Attorney Help Desk

Notice: The final Attorney Help Desk session for 2024 will be December 11th; The Attorney Help Desk will resume on January 8th, 2025

The Summit County Juvenile Court’s Attorney Help Desk is an opportunity to receive legal assistance with juvenile case jurisdiction and forms. The Help Desk is staffed by local, private attorneys who can provide assistance and guidance on how to complete the following forms: Grandparent Affidavits, Modifications of Custody, Preparations of Subpoenas and Obtain Service of Process.

The Help Desk is located on the first floor of the Court and is open every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (last appointment at 11:30 a.m.).

Those seeking assistance from the Attorney Help Desk will be seen on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please sign-up at the front desk in the main lobby of the Court. There is no charge for this service.

If you are unable to attend the Help Desk in person, you may also do so virtually using Zoom video conferencing. If you would like to attend Attorney Help Desk by Zoom, please:

  1. Prior to the Wednesday you would like to attend, fill out and complete the Party Information Sheet and Attorney Help Desk Application forms available here: LINK to forms.
  2. Email a AttyHelpDesk@cpcourt.summitoh.net - and indicated that you would like to attend Attorney Help Desk virtually by Zoom. A link to the Zoom meeting will be emailed to you.

Attorney Help Desk is a service funded by the Summit County Juvenile Court. The assistance being provided is done by private attorneys who are not employees of the Juvenile Court. The Help Desk is established for the purpose of providing assistance in filling out forms and perfecting service. The person seeking Help Desk assistance will file their paperwork as a pro se litigant. The attorney providing assistance will not make court appearances or file any documents on behalf of persons seeking Help Desk assistance. The Help Desk cannot provide assistance to persons who have already retained counsel or who have counsel appointed to them by the court. The Help Desk is unable to provide recommendations and/or referrals for attorneys who can provide you with additional assistance. If you need additional assistance beyond filling out forms or obtaining service and need help finding an attorney, you can call the Lawyer Referral Service at the Akron Bar Association  at 330-253-5038. Please be advised that it is not guaranteed that the Help Desk attorney will be able to meet with you based upon several factors, including, but not limited to, the number of individuals already present and your time of arrival. Individuals who wish to utilize the Attorney Help Desk should plan to arrive early to ensure that the Help Desk will be able to provide assistance.
