Magistrate Dianne M. Curtis was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Otterbein College for undergraduate studies and the University of Pittsburgh for psychology with a specialization in child welfare (Summa Cum Laude). She spent much of her early career working with children in various management capacities in agencies that provided foster care and adoption services. She was the Manager of Compliance and Advocacy for Cleveland Metropolitan School District where she was responsible for ensuring students with special needs received a free and appropriate public education in accordance with the federal law. Magistrate Curtis received her juris doctorate from the University of Akron in 2011 and focused her practice on special education, domestic relations and juvenile law. In 2021, she joined Summit County Children’s Services as legal counsel and juvenile court liaison. Magistrate Curtis accepted her appointment as Magistrate under the leadership and guidance of Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio on September 23, 2024.
Magistrate Curtis is a member of Psi Chi International Honors Society in Psychology, served as Magister of Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity at Akron Law, and is a member of the Akron Bar Association, where she led the Juvenile Law Committee for several years and was an inaugural member of the Leadership Academy. She is an adjunct professor at Cleveland State University and the University of Akron. Magistrate Curtis has a passion for juvenile victims of exploitation and has participated in Restore Court in various roles since its inception. Magistrate Curtis currently presides over Restore Court.
Magistrate Curtis lives in Summit County with her husband. She has two adult children and a wonderful grandchild.
