Teen Court is a diversionary program designed to provide the community’s youth exposure to the juvenile justice system. Youthful offenders who are deemed suitable by the Judge or Magistrate for Teen Court appear before a jury of their peers for a dispositional hearing. Under the supervision of a Magistrate, teens who have volunteered to take part in the Court proceedings and completed a mandatory training session will issue a sanction. Upon successful completion of the terms of the sanction the youth offender’s charge(s) are dismissed.
